Horse Stuff, January 20

Long time, no write. Those of you who know me, know I'm always running late. Please disregard the December 15, 2009 post date. I'm posting this on January 20, 2010, only 35+ days later.

I'm listing stuff as I go thru the inbox and will list events at plain bay mare...

Sherman Tegtmeier at NCTA this Saturday, January 23. The clinic is full, but spectating is free. His emphasis will be on reining and related horsemanship.

Saddles for sale: I have a circle Y western saddle with a wide quarter horse tree for sale. It is a nice saddle and in good shape. I just don't like the fit for myself and would like to get something with an equitation seat. Please pass this on to anyone you think might have interest. I am asking 500 for it. I also have an antique looking saddle that is in good shape and might be a collectable for someone that I would like to sell. It is a hereford brand. I searched for similar saddles online and am also going to ask 500 for this. Please share this with anyone who might be interested. Please contact rlauby@gmail.com if interested.

4-H Horse Stampede February 20, 2010: Also - as an added feature, this is the same weekend as the Spring University of Nebraska Equestrian team horse show. It will be going on throughout the day in the RB Warren arena! Admission is free and there will be some light, snack type concessions for sale by the UNL Equestrian team.
Schedule change: Horse Bowl Orientation will be at 10:30 and the contest will begin at 11:00.
More information on the Stampede and entry forms can be found at: http://www.animalscience.unl.edu/extension/equine/4H/stampede.html

Most of the 4-H crowd has probably already seen this, but just in case, 2010 District Horse Show dates have been set.
June 7: Sidney
June 8: Knox Co ( Bloomfield)
June 9: Madison Co
June 10: Lincoln - Lancaster Event Center (new covered/indoor pen)
June 15: North Platte
June 16: Loup City

Ricky Quinn Clinic at NCTA, Curtis, February 19, 20, 21: Focus will be on Horsemanship in the AM and Ranch Roping in the PM. For more info, contact Sondie Smith at signs@atcjet.net or I'm posting a flyer at Plain Bay Mare. Heard really good comments on Ricky's clinic last year at NCTA.

Sandhills Hunter Jumper will meet next at Saturday February 6, 2010 at NTCA Arena in
Curtis, NE. This meeting will be held between the NTCA Hunter/Jumper
clinic and supper. For more info on Sandhills Hunter Jumper, please contact Erin Aten, secretary, at erinleigh86@gpcom.net

Which leads to the next item to mention, NCTA is hosting a Winter Clinic with Melissa Pienett as clinician February 5-7 (Friday thru Sunday). Emphasis will be on flat work and dressage, HOWEVER, there will be some jumping opportunities as well. For more info, please contact Katy Jones, NCTA Hunt Seat Coach, at jones_katy@hotmail.com or click here.

If you would prefer to travel further that weekend, UNL is hosting its annual Horsin' Around on February 6 and 7. This year's feature clinician is Holly Hover. Holly Hover of Scottsdale, AZ is a favorite clinician on not only how to improve you and your horse, but shares insight as to what judges look for in top performances. Holly has highly effective ways of working with riders of all ages at all levels. She operates Hover Quarter Horses specializing in training All-Around horses and rides and has instructed numerous winners at the AQHA World Championship show and the All American Quarter Horse Congress; including numerous class winners in showmanship, horsemanship, equitation, western riding and trail. She has officiated at both the AQHYA and AQHA World Championship shows as well as the All-American Quarter Horse Congress. This is a VERY affordable opportunity.
