Horse Stuff, April 16

Just a reminder, this Saturday, April 17, is the Shaggy Show in Curtis. This is the big money-maker for the NCTA Equestrian Team and any and all participation is greatly appreciated. I know last year's show had a great turnout. In an attempt to keep things rolling, this year they will be splitting the arena and running two showmanship classes at a time. English classes kick off at 8 AM CST, followed by halter, western performance and last but not least, speed events. For more info, a flyer is available at Plain Bay Mare.

Okay, here goes (in the order I received the info)....

The Sandhills Hunter/Jumper Association spring clinic is May 14-16. It will be held at the NTCA Indoor Arena in Curtis, NE with Martha Deeds as the clinician. A flyer is posted at Plain Bay Mare.

The annual Ft. Robinson Horse Camp is scheduled for June 10-12. A brochure form are available at the Dawes County Extension web site.

If I included items in terms of how many e-mails received about the same event, this next one would win hands down. It is for beginners to advanced, youth and adults, or anyone wanting to improve their training and exhibiting skills.

Les is a certified judge in 14 different horse associations and judging in 25 states. Les has judged 5 world competitions: Pinto World, AMHA World, Buckskin World, AMHR World and Buckskin Congress . It is limited to 45 riders ($40 each for riders from the same family). Spectators can audit for $10. Pre-registration is required by May 1, 2010.

Topics include Conformation To Win, Conditioning To Win, Grooming To Win, Proper Tack and Equipment, Proper Attire for the Show Ring, Showing To The Judge, Proper Ring Ethics and Procedures, Showmanship “Tips and Tricks” for Youth and Adults, What the Judge Looks For In a Pleasure Horse Going Down the Rail, What the Judge Looks For In A Horsemanship Class.

Stalls are available for $25/stall per nite (includes shavings). There will be a mock show on Sunday (must pre-register for stalls). To pre-register, mail information and fees to Jenny Hutchison, 16882 WN River Rd, Hershey, NE 69143. You can call Jenny at 308-534-0996 for more info.

The Pleasant Valley Wranglers will be hosting a 4-H Horse Show on Saturday, June 26. A flyer is available at Plain Bay Mare. OR...

The Greater Nebraska Horse Show Circuit has a new web site. Check it out at http://sites.radiowebservices.com/kp_gnhorseshowcircuit/. Show bills (including the Pleasant Valley Wranglers show bill), circuit rules and other pertinent information can be found there.

That's it for now. If you have something you would like posted, please email it to plainbaymare@gmail.com.
